So...to answer your question, I would not call him. Ask him for his number. If he gives it to you then you can call him. If he doesn't toss his number away so you don't have to resist calling him in the future, cause if he wanted you to have it he would have gave it you.

You should but if you think if he would react good follow my advice. Don't just text saying "hey its me ___" you should actually pull a little prank/joke on him with texting. Just be creative and make something up that will be funny w/o being insulting then just ask him in a text "do you know who this is?" Takes out the thing where he might think *how did she find my number* and replaces it with laughter. Perfect in my opinion...
