Help with character names?

I'm starting to write a story. I actually started it a while back and was just thinking about how I wanted to start up again. The only problem however is I can't find the papers that I jotted my ideas down on and can only remember 2 of the 4 characters' names. So I'm asking for renaming them help.

The descriptions:

Girl # 1: 15 years old, shoulder length chocolate colored hair, amber eyes. she's average height and very thin. For the past few months, she finds she keeps getting uncontrollably angry for no reason at all. The only thing she can do to calm herself down is run. (There is a major reason behind her anger, but it's complicated and I don't feel like explaining it at the moment.)

Girl #2: Just turned 16. She's got long straight sandy blonde hair and green/blue eyes. She's pretty average: average height, average weight, average shoe size. Unlike her friends, nothing weird is happening to her: she's purely human. She's mad though, because her father- that she hasn't seen in forever- suddenly wants shared custody of her and her mother isn't objecting. But that's really her only problem.

The other two girls I can remember their names but I'm putting their descriptions up too, just to add to the other characters' descriptions:

Theresa (Terri): She's the youngest of the group, havingjust turned 15, and she's really short- only 4'11"- and she's not super skinny but a healthy weight. Her hair is light brown, long, and often wild. She's also becoming an insomniac because she's scared of falling asleep and having the horrid nightmares that seem to parallel events in her and her friends' lives, as well as international events. (She's pretty much the main focal character.).

Nicole: She is 16. Her hair is curly and jet black. She has black eyes and pale skin. She lives with her twice divorced father that gives her whatever she pleases and her brother. Her weird problem is that she gets awful headaches and then blacks out... ending up in all sorts of compromising situations. Though she's been to a million and one doctors, no one can figure out what is wrong with her, just like the other girls.

So any ideas for Girl #1 and Girl #2? And based on the character descriptions would you read it?

Oh and it is NOT a vampire/werewolf/fairy/witch/superhero story. Just figured I'd throw that out there :)

  • I'm writing a story too about a brother and sister who have to cope with high school, a single mom, and a dad who has abandoned them a long time ago....I chose Scarlet/Charley for the girl and Axel for the boy it also depends what kind of characters you want. The girl was a tomboy, which is why she doesn't call herself Scarlet and the guy is a rocker so I chose Axel

I think girl #1 Kayley, Erin, or Deanie

I think girl #2 Laura or Sandy

And girl #3 I think you should change to Shelly

and girl #4 I think you should change to Danielle

I'd name the first girl Amber, because not only does she have Amber eyes but that name suits her.

The second girl I'd name either Kiera or Eliana, or perhaps Carol or Alicia.

The plot is interesting, but a really bad writer can make a good plot bad. However, reading your question, you seem like a really great writer. So I'd read it!

I like how you think Hayden. Your right, its absolutely a tick off when you see these questions posted anywhere on the enternet "I need a name" or "Whats a good name for...". When I brainstormed my book the names came naturally to me. I would choose a name from a favorite book , and choose from another to make an entirely original name (Like "Josseir". I got "Joss" from Gaurdians of Ga'hoole, and mixed it with a name from Prosperoe's Children. Most young writers today spend hours trying to find the perfect name, and half of them know that all they're doing is destracting themselfs from writing. Its rubbish! Almost all young writers have no clue how to even publish a book (I myself spent an entire summer writing details down, asking famouse writers how they did it. and I am a young writer) They dont know how to start or where it ends.

    You have a choice.

Make up names a la Charles Dickens. eg Wackford Squeers The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby

    or

choose them from the class divide of Britain.

    Upper Class - Arabella

    Middle class- Posy

    Working class- Shannon

Girl #1: Elizabeth (Liz), Jennifer (Jenn)

    Girl #2: Tammy, Taylor, Maggie

Honestly, it's not my type of book. Good luck.

I think Girl # 1's name should be Anna, and Girl # 2's name should be Tatum. :D
