Narrow streets have negative connotations immediately. You are in an enclosed space and growing up people hear stories about muggings or murders. It's totally normal to feel anxious when walking down a narrow street.

I always ring someone on my mobile before. And i look behind me and i look into the narrow street just in case.

Always make sure someone knows where you are.

I'm young so i try and stick to the main roads but i do have to go in one narrow lane so I always have a little mini can of deo in my hand.

I do not feel comfortable at all and i live in a relatively 'safe' area :)

It's certainly NOT Social Anxiety Disorder necessarily. It's the tension of whether to acknowledge their presence or not and whether they will respond or not, after all, there's safety in numbers. It's probably a primitive thing in our genes. You watch any to people pass one another, they almost invariably look at the floor or away. Eye contact between total strangers can signal aggression.

It's called Social Anxiety Disorder. It's causes can be determined and treated. Ask your physician.

Avoid eye contact at first but then give hard eye contact when close and see if you get a frown or a smile.
