What is the correct architectural term for the void space between two floors of a building?

Especially when trusses are used in construction, there is a space that is used for wiring, plumbing and HVAC ducts.

Update:

The space in question is between the ceiling of one floor and the floor of the one above. There may be mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing running through this area, or it may be just empty space.

Update 2:

Thank you for the answers. I awarded 10 points to the most thoughtful answer. (I also like it better than the real term) I forgot I had posted the question. I contacted an engineering professor who responded that "all designers call it something different." I later contacted a local architect who informed me the correct architectural term is "Interstitial Space". Thank you for your efforts.

I call the space between floor framing members a "joist bay". If you are using open web floor trusses..."floor truss bay".

The intermediate space between two floors is called the Mezzanine.I don't think there is a correct single term.It could be called a Dead space, a horizontal chase. That space is created by the height of the floor trusses for more strength. It's a great place to run plumbing, hvac, electrical etc.I guess it could be called part of the floor substrate.I think you said it with VOID space.

The space between two floors commonly seen in commercial buildings with suspended ceilings used for HVAC, pumbling, lighting & electrical systems is called "plenum".
