The th-350 works best 9.5 times out of 10
The only time you want a glide is in a light weight 2200-2600 lbs car with massive amount of torque in a tire limited class, with a very step rear gear (4.88 or so)
The high 1.76 or 1.82 1st gear can help limit tire spin in a car like the above
In a heavy car, street gears, and kinda low power (yes 425 hp is low when talking about drag cars) you need the extra gear ratio to help get the car off the line.
The th-350 has a 2.52 1st gear
A good well built th-350 is more than up to the task at hand. We have ran one behind a 700 HP twin T3 turbo'ed 327 for a few years now

With that heavy car and that low horsepower you need the TH 350. Even better would be a late model 4 or more speed trans.

I always believed the 350 handled 350hp.
What are you using it for cruising, go to a 4 speed auto, drags go for the powerglide.

Go with the TH350, better for street use than the Powerglide. And with that much power, I hope you have an 8.5" rearend and not the 7.5", the smaller one won't last long with that much power.

There's no reason to run a powerglide unless your car is a full blow track only car...and if that's the case 425hp is puny.
Go with a nicely built TH350 and be done with it...you won't have to worry about the trans blowing up.
