Honeydew is the sticky stuff produced by aphids after drinking sap from trees.

"Aphids use their sharp needle- like mouths to pierce leaves and suck out nutrients. They use the nitrogen in the liquid and excrete the rest, leaving a shiny, sticky residue on leaves, or anything under the plant, known as honeydew."

Maple, Sycamore and Lime trees are aphid trees.

When the leaves fall in autumn, the problem will go away until next year. The only other ways are, chop the tree down and replace with a non-aphid attracting tree or treat with insecticide.

Regular washing of the car with warm soapy water and treating with a wax & polish may help.

If they are Maple, Sycamore, Lime trees or similar then its probably tree sap. We had a tree that used to literally rain sap down at certain times of year and you need lots of hot water and detergent to shift it, preferably before it sets too hard. Once it has been baked on by the sun it goes hard like varnish and then you need to use a more aggressive cleaner to get rid of it.

Tree sap. Next time, after you wash your car, coat it with a bit of baby oil and this will prevent the tree sap sticking.

Sap from the leaves and some trees do this more than others. Do not leave it on too long before washing as it can be hard to remove when it gets hard.

It's tree sap. I get that on mine too when I have to park in a certain spot in our driveway. It'll usually come off if you take it to a drive-thru car wash, but if it doesn't or it has been on there awhile go to the store and get a bottle of bug & tar remover, it works great on sap too.

Around here,it's been a big year for aphid droppings. It's a sticky sugar film that covers everything. From looking it up on Google I found that it's harmless,it washes off easily,but- After a while the residue is the ideal medium for a black mold to grow on.Everything white turns dark with a stain that does not wash off.

Tree sap. Not good if left on paintwork for a while. Pop down your local motor shop and get a product called 'Speed Detailer'. It's great for getting rid of this!

Tree sap. Try Coke a Cola but it might require something a bit stronger.

you can get specialist cleaners to get rid of it,when done and if you cannot park anywhere else I would suggest getting a car cover.

this tree sap is not good for your paint work
