Question about some external hard drives?
I'm looking at buying an external hard drive to save music and movies to. Ive been looking at a few and I was just wondering if you have to plug it into the usb and a/c adapter or if you can just plug it into the usb and it be powered by the usb? here are the ones im looking at.

Ben's right the ones you are looking at have to be plugged into an AC outlet.
Just as a side note if you can cough up another $50 then you can get a 1.5 Terabyte external hard drive at Costco. Which is a much better investment then what you are currently looking at! 1.5 Terabyte has twice as much space as a 750 GB drive.

No. It takes quite a bit of power to spin the hard drive and the USB port doesn't provide enough power to do it.

I think the tiny thin ones are powered by USB..
..but a standard Ext. HDD,,is powered by AC-current..plus it requires a USB 2.0 connection.
