Has your female dog ever done this?

Ok...my dog has done this twice. She gathered up all of her toys ranging from a stuffed goat to a squeaky bone, and she pretended that they were her puppies. She didn't want to leave them, not even for a walk, and she would eat a little bit of food, then rush back to them. My grandma came over one time while she was like this, and my dog almost bit her...Has your dog done this, or is my dog just weird

(she hasn't done this recently)

Update:

She is spayed now...i guess thats why she hasn't done it XD

sounds like she was having a false pregnancy if she is not spayed. That is how they will act.

We have had females like that. One "adopted" a blanket and would guard it with her life.

no my dog has never done this but it just means that she is getting broody like we sumtimes do when there is a baby. when she tryed to bite your Grandma she was trying to protect her 'puppies'. might be that she is having a phantom pregnacy and that her body thinks she is and will go thought the same things with hormones n such but will then soon relise that it is not true and will stop. dont just take away the toys when she is not looking as she will be looking for them and will pine as her 'puppies' have gone

    hope this helps a little

It may not be what you're perceiving it as; she may be being dominant and territorial. Guarding toys, food, beds, sofas etc. can lead to very dangerous behaviour.

If it is what your saying it's very cute. I have two female dogs and neither has done anything like that.

I think the older one had a litter at the Humane Society when she was only 2 it's so sad to think about but she's happy now.

this means that your dog is ready to have babies. sometimes they will even get a false pregnancy and they will develop milk in their mammary glands that will feel like tumors when you touch them. this happens due to an imbalance of her hormones (mainly estrogen). if you are not planning to breed her, you should get her spayed ASAP. whenever a ***** goes into heat, it increases her chance of developing mammary tumors a 10-15% when she gets older. hope this helps
