Sad day for Guiding Light fans everywhere?
Hi everyone......especially all you Guiding Light fans. It's a sad day for us. The longest running Soap opera is leaving. I feel like a part of me is leaving to.
My mom said she used to sit me in front of Guiding Light in the afternoons after my nap, because it calmed me down. Every time she tried turning the channels, I got angry and cried. So, I guess I've been hooked my whole life.
My mom used to listen to it on the radio with her mother, I watched it with my mom, and my daughter watched it with me.
Irna Phillips did a wonderful thing back in the day. I'm truly going to miss this amazing, brilliant LIGHT in my life.
God bless all the terrific cast and crew, and THANK YOU for many many hours of entertainment. You may be gone, but NOT forgotten! Thank you, again
Does anyone else have anything to say?

It is a sad day and it's been a sad few months for me actually - ever since the announcement. I grew up watching it with my Mom too. It's gotten really good lately and I wish they had done some of this awesome writing awhile back, when it might have made a difference. I feel like I'm losing a part of my family.
Thanks, Guiding Light, for the great memories! I will miss you very much!

A sad day indeed........I have watched soaps for over 35 years and GL is not the first soap I have watched that has been cancelled.....but I hope it will be the last for awhile.
Watched The Early Show this morning and Alan / Ron Raines and Tina Sloan / Lillian Raines were on.
I didn't like the fact that the writers felt that they had to kill Alan's character off...it was bad and sad enough that GL got axed but to kill off Alan was uncalled for.......I was waiting for Alan / Ron to bring that up on the Early show but he didn't mention it....will be watching the last show today.
The Light goes out!

I've seen the "death" of many great shows over the years & though I never watched GL (I'm a die hard Days fan) I do know how it feels to lose a "TV Family".
I just want to let you know that you're not alone in this.
It's not unusual to grieve for the people you have "known" all of your life & will never see again.
I'm terribly sorry.
