worried about cancer.?
Monday I went to the doctor with lower back and abdominal pain also had nausea and lost of appetite. They said it was a mild UTI 5 days later everything is better but still have nausea and do not want to eat I have lost 7lbs. I have my self freaked out about it being cancer because I know that is the first thing that occurs with cancer. Some people say anxiety can also cause this. Is their a blood test that can tell if you have cancer if you went to the emergency room. I am so totally scared. thanks

I wouldn't worry about cancer honestly. Nausea and feeling sick combined with anxiety will drop 7 lbs on anyone. Antibiotics for a UTI and can make you sick to your stomach and that is likely what is happening. That is a really common side effect.
There is no simple blood test for cancer (and there are lots of kinds of cancer). The weight loss and nausea from cancer usually occur from chemotherapy treatment (unless you are truly in late stage cancer, which you would know by now).
Relax, and work on feeling better. Let your doctor know that you are having nausea. Eat a bland diet, get some crackers and ginger ale and if you don't feel better in a few days, go back to the doctor. You may have a kidney infection and need more antibiotic treatment (the back pain may be an indicator of that). But it does not sound like cancer at all.

I have had uti's before and I can tell you from experience that just the medication you are taking to treat it can cause nausea.
If that is the only symptom you are currently having, do not worry about it. There are some wacky stomach viruses going around now that is causing some distress.
I would wait another few days and if it doesn't clear up then go to see your family physician who should order some tests (including a follow-up urine test to for your uti) to see what could be going on.

There is but they don't just do it because you request it. Go to your family doctor and talk to him. Also, quit worrying about it, worry doesn't do anything except cause health problems. Good luck.
