Will Dale Earnhardt Jr's bad luck come to an end?

Dale Earnhardt Jr has been having a rough time trying to win races ever since the 2005 season started. After leaving DEI for Hendrick Motor Sports everyone thought he would start winning races again but so far he has only one one race. Except he has one both the Budweiser Shootout and the Gatorade Duel race but those are not point races. He has only won one points race. Does anyone think he can come back and start winning lots more races?

slim to none jr' driving sucks the only reason anybody likes him is because they fans of his dads and they figure he will follow in his dads foot steps /the only reason he is still stying alive as a nascar driver is because he has his dads name to back him up

I don't know if it was me, but Friday they were commenting during Happy Hour, that the engines are known to lose power the longer you run them, more so than the "non' plate engines... The engines really looked like they fell greatly yesterday, from the beginning to the end. By the 160 lap mark, it was more like watching go carts, the engines really had no fire under them like they did on the first laps... Even though the teams have had practice and dyno's back at the shops, I just wonder how much more tweaking is needed for the engines with the bigger plate... On the same token, all those laps under caution didn't help things either, being they have the noses taped up so much... There was only one engine failure for the day, but you don't have to blow an engine to have excessive compression loss, would result in a loss of power. Not to mention tugging around mountain behind them on the trunk lid. I really think that they know on those plate tracks they have a definite wear issue, like they said all weekend, the old spoiler was able to be hidden behind the aerodynamics's of the car itself, easier that this edition of the spoiler and is leaving the engines doing an uphill climb 499 miles... So today, I don't think it was a fact of drivers actually falling off as much as the engines were slowly getting weaker as the race went on... The car that weakened down the least had the definite advantage... Much like today, the people that hung around the back all day and did nothing, were the victors and the ones that battled at the front all day spent their equipment...

Not for a while, if ever. I think it's about time everyone, INCLUDING the Dale Jr. fans, realize that's it's a problem with Dale. Not his team, crew chiefs, or race cars. They have tried all different crew chiefs and car setups. They have even used Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson's EXACT setups, and yet still no success. The problem is Dale. He has not done a good job driving the cars or communicating with his team very well. It seems like he is hardly in a good mood, and he doesn't do a good job in the racecar. I don't know, maybe he's having problems off the race track or something.

Yeah he will win again. He just has trouble diagnosing problems with the car in the COT. He ran well in 2007, and he would have easily made the Chase if he didn't blow so many motors or have part failures or get caght up in accidents that weren't of his making. Plus he was docked 140 points at Darlington for a rules infraction. I can name about 7 or 8 races that he had a shot at winning and something broke on the car. Last year he had some bad luck with tire failures. If he doesn't win again I will be shocked.

it's hard to create 'good luck' when you consistently run in the 15-25 range every week. he supposedly left DEI because of 'bad luck', 'bad parts', 'bad engines', 'bad communication', 'bad blood', etc. remember, when darrell, hendrick and jr. all stated that winning six races and the daytona 500 in the first year at hendrick was very reasonable? i'm just not following the jr. has 'bad luck' stuff.

ok, i'll bite my tongue a bit. today was bad racing luck to be taken out like that.

His bad luck will finally come to an end when he quits racing. You can tell the boy don't want to race anymore. He's tired of all the BS in nascar.

You need to rephrase the question and ask: When will Dale Jr's driving skills come back? It sure isn't bad luck if the other 3 hendrick cars are in the chase. Mark Martin has had terrible luck this year too with blown motors and pit strategy, and yet, he is in the chase. If you are a good driver, you can overcome bad luck. You have 26 races in the regular season. That's plenty of races to overcome bad luck.

Not this year sport. Dale has not been doing a good job communicating changes to his new crew chief. Thus the changes on the pits, do not seem to be reflected on the car at full speed.

Every driver out there can have a off yr. I'm sure his luck will come to a end, hopefully he can win at 'Dega thats a great track for him. I can't wait for 2010.

    Go Dale Jr

I am sorry to say that he just not have the talent that his father did. Everyone compares him to his father and it is not fair to Dale Jr.

After all these years, why would anyone think that bad luck is involved?

He's on his second crew chief with Hendrick Motorsports and so far progress has been hit and miss. Winning races is one thing, just running in the top 10 is another. Lance McGrew is making progress, but there's only so much one man can do.
