Website Building Software Suggestions?
I have volunteered to help improve and maintain my HS class Alumni website. We have a place to park our site for free. We need a software program to build our site.
So. I am looking at software programs to use in building our site. Right now I am considering Dreamweaver.
Any suggestions that will allow me to use WYSIWYG programing but will give a high quality look?
Well I'm very happy that all of you have lots of time to learn the ins and outs of of html.... And I have done some of that in the past. I have also used Front Page to build a website top to bottom. I'm not easily intimidated by the web or computers. However, at some point someone else will be taking this job over. And most likely it will be some one who needs to have an "easy" way of keeping our site up to date. And a WYISYG type system would be the best choice over learning to code.
Therefor.... number one you get my vote as you came the closest to staying within the parameters of my question.

Microsoft FrontPage is free WYSIWYG that comes with windows.
However, it is not as good as Adobe Dreamweaver. If you are thinking about getting Dreamweaver, I wonder if you are considering torrenting it, or buying it, hmm.
Anyways, I use Dreamweaver for everything web related nowadays. I find it very easy to use.
A website's quality depends on the images created and the layout of the site. The software editor has nothing to do with it.
Good Luck!

Website building programs don't give sites a high quality look - you get that from actually writing the site (which means actually learning how to write a site).
Dreamweaver? If I didn't know better, I'd swear it was a cruel joke that Adobe perpetrated on a computer-illiterate public - professionals don't use it. If you want something heavyweight (like a Sherman tank to go shopping with - Dreamweaver is just an armor-plated Humvee), use Aptana Studio. It makes Dreamweaver look like a child's toy, it's free, and it's supported by the community.
Or download Notepad Plus, learn website development, download XAMPP to check what you design, and you have all you need for free.

The look depends on how well you can code, not how well you can edit a template in a Visual Editor.
