Do I have to rebuy Microsoft Office?
Two years ago when I bought my desktop from Dell, I also purchased Office 2007 with it. Now I am considering buying a laptop. Do I need to buy Office all over again for it to be legit with Microsoft? I think it is a bit retarded for me to have to re-buy a program I already own.

Unfortunately, the answer to your question is yes. You do have to purchase Microsoft Office again.
I'd recommend sparring the $100+ on Office 2007. Instead, add that the computer you are getting and get OpenOffice instead. It's completely free, legal, and compatible with Microsoft Office. I have it installed on 4 computers at home, and over 15 at my company's office, it has saved me well over $3000.00.

You're not retarded. It's just that Microsoft licenses the software to it's users so you must buy the software again. As an alternative, you can download OpenOffice for free.

Yeh one pc per software. But why buy it when you can get a free alternative called openoffice. I recommend you remove microsoft office from your desktop and install it on you laptop. Then put open office on your desktop so you have some sort of word processor. http://www.openoffice.org/

The simple answer is yes, the license for the software installation is valid for one PC.
If you want a free solution that is compatible with MS Office I suggest you check out open office at http://www.openoffice.org/

You should not be obligated to. If you have a licensed key and you have removed the software from the original system you have the right to install it to another system you own as long as you abide by the license agreement.

I didn't know they were so restricted on PCs. I have a Mac and I installed a copy on my laptop as well as my desktop with no problem. I think it says somewhere in the license that you're allowed to do that.

The activation code can only be used. Since you have registers it on the first computer, it will refuse to active on the second. However it will give you a number that you can call. Explain to them what you are doing, and they can clear the code and allow it to active on the new computer. However it will no longer work on the old computer.
