Can the Wii play games in progressive scan mode like the GameCube can?

Look at this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_GameCube_game...

With the GameCube you can get a wire to plug into the back and watch games in progressive scan or "enhanced definition" but with the Wii there is no place to put the wire. The socket you put the wire in was removed from new gamecubes in 2004 but I got mine before then and have the socket.

Resident Evil 4 looks basically the same on gamecube and Wii, but the gamecube version can be played with enhanced definition...

Yes, in the Wii system settings, you can change your TV refresh from 480 to 720p.

Most Wii games will adjust automatically, but older GCN games have to be adjust in the games own settings.

The Wii uses a single plug that supports both types of cables.

You can if you use the component cables. The Wii cannot display in 720p. The max is 480p.
