What would it take to take Windows Vista off of my computer and put Windows 7 on?

I don't want to lose any files or anything. Would I need to do anything special?

    Buy Windows 7.

During the start of the installation process, tell it to Custom Install rather than Upgrade Install. Vista will be removed rather than upgraded in the process.

If you want your files, settings, and programs to carry over, tell it to Upgrade Install instead.

A fresh (custom) install is recommended however. You'd need to back up your files first.

    Hello,

You can pre-order your upgrade for Windows 7 here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/produc... When you receive your upgrade you will want to back up your files and do a clean install of Windows 7.

    Cheers,

    Tara
