Can an avocado tree be planted in a desert environment and grow?
In Palm Springs, California the temperature will at times get up to 120 degrees. It's considered a desert climate. Can I grow an avocado tree and expect it to thrive and bear fruit?

Hmmm, Avacodo is typically tropical to subtropical, & very large growing, up to 80+ feet tall, & require ample water until established. I've never known anyone to grow them in an arid climate, with extreme high temps. or low temps (dessert winter nights) . But if you deside to try it, make sure to give it plenty of water till established. My guess tho' is the exteme heat/sun light will make it difficult!!! Good luck

Everything I have read says it will not survive the heat but I am giving it a try. I have two trees in a pot they are about 12" tall this will be their second summer. I keep the pot in a shaded area on a north facing patio.
