    Allinson light wholemeal bread

    Ingredients:

    Extra large loaf:

    1 1/2 cups (345 ml) warm water

    4 tbsp sunflower oil

    3 tbsp runny honey

    2 tsp salt

    2 cups (300g) Allison Bakers grade very strong white bread flour

    2 cups (300g) Allinson Original strong wholemeal flour

    2 1/2 tsp Allinson Easy bake yeast.*

    For a large loaf:

    1 cup (225ml) warm water

    3 tbsp sunflower oil

    2 tbsp runny honey

    1 1/2 tsp salt

    1 1/2 cups (250g) Allison Bakers grade very strong white bread flour

    1 1/2 cups (250g) Allinson Original strong wholemeal flour

    1 1/2 tsp Allinson Easy bake yeast.*

    *If you want your loaf to prove faster, then you can use 1 sachet of easy bake yeast.

    If you are making it in a bread maker, then put the ingredients in a bread maker baking pan in the order specified for your particular model Set to Basic Rapid/Wholemeal Rapid programme for the appropriate size loaf.

    If you are making the bread by hand, then put the flours, salt, yeast into a bowl. Mix to a soft dough with the honey, oil and water. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Shape and put into an appropriate greased tin. Leave to prove slowly until double in size (1-3 hours approximatley) Place in a preheated oven to 220 degres celsius, 425 farenhite, or gas mark 7 and then immediately turn the heat down to 200 degress celcius, 400 degress farenhite or gas mark 6. Bake for 25-30 minutes. When cooked the loaf should sound hallow when tapped at the bottom.

    Before baking the loaf, you can add different glazes such as brushing the loaf with water for a french style finish, salt water for a shiny crisp surface, hot water for a craked shiny surface, milk for a golden crust, olive oil for a subtle flavour and a rich, shiny crust, butter for a richly flavoured crust with a soft texture, or you can mix some cornflour with water for a shiny chewy crust, or you can add an egg wash as well by mixing one egg, 1 tbsp water and salt for a shiny, golden crust.

    Also, you do not have to use Allinson branded flours and yeast etc. I only wrote that as those or the ingredients written for the loaf in my book, if you do wish to use Allinson branded products, then you can easily find them in the cake decorating and flour isle in your local supermarket.

    I like to make my daughter different kinds of pasta. It is so versatile, you can just throw whatever you have in there and it will usually come out good. Also, a great way to sneak in some veggies; squashes, mushrooms, bell peppers. etc. But of course she has her days where she will only eat peanut butter sandwiches...but at least she is eating lol.

    This means anything we could hunt or find meats, fish, nuts, leafy greens, regional veggies, and seeds. Sorry, the pasta, cereal, and candy will have to go! Instead, you’ll be making things like chicken stir fry and paleo spaghetti.
