Shouldn't the head of the Church of England pay more attention to what is happening in his own country?
Rather than poking his nose into other peoples affairs?

Christians are being victimised all the time in their own land, My feeling is that the Church hasn't done enough to protect Christians like the nurse who was told to remove her cross although others were wearing neck chains. Hers was deemed to be dangerous.
and the prison chapel without a crucifix.

Does Rowan Williams not see the danger the Muslim faith poses here. Is he afraid to protect Christians?
Will: You are right of course but he is the Archbishop of Canterbury so he should spend more time on the problems we have here.

Hi Trish
You were right, the Archbishop is the spiritual head of the church, the queen is head of all things and 'Defender of the faith' a title given by the pope for henry the V111 defending the catholic church against Martin Luther which she of course has inherited.
But unfortunately our royal family have not done anything at all to defend the faith and although I am still very much for the monarchy you have to ask exactly what they are doing to keep their privileged positions.
Your right again about Rowen he certainly does not appear to be defending or even supporting christianity against what appears to be a take over of our faith from the Muslims.
You know what Trish we deserve what we get for allowing a bunch of idiots to lead us.

Rowan Williams has always been an old fool. Only old fools get to be Archbishop of Canterbury. Go back to pre-WW2 and observe what a fool Archbishop Temple was. The problem with Williams is he still believes anything he spouts will be taken as worth listening to by what he, truly but mistakenly, believes to be his personal congregation - the English people. (Most of whom only attend church for funerals and weddings but sometimes not even then.) He certainly doesn't believe the Muslims are a threat. He's for anyone who worships HIS God no matter how they do it. It is written in the Bible that God is a vengeful god. Taking that into account Williams would support those sons of Allah on just that point! God being God. Therefore, there is only one God! Both sides totally agree on that. The only difference being the recognition of separate prophets - Jesus Christ (Alleged son of Joseph the carpenter and the Virgin Mary) & Mohammed (The posthumous son of Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib). He would fail to understand the vengeful bit in that case was being aimed at his own countrymen and in effect his own supposed co-religionists. His lack of concern regarding the problems suffered by the English is well documented as is his relentless neo-political posturing. Let us all never forget his is a 'political' appointment. He has a seat in the House of Lords from which he can present his many misjudgement without immediate being publically called to question as to their relevancy or importance. He will go in time and be replaced by a similar clown no doubt. I've been active in the church during my youth but fools like Williams drove me to see that their positions of luxurious power and life style had nothing to do with me and were strictly earthly in their nature. Where is their God in that?

Something like 5% of the people in this country are Muslim, so saying they pose a risk is frankly ridiculous. The man believes it is his calling to help everyone, regardless of country boarders. Focusing on one country would be rather selfish, surely?
Then again I'm an atheist, and the less religion the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Is he not head of the Anglican Church? This is a worldwide organisation, so he has some justification on commenting on things that appear to be unchristian. I would say.
Maybe human rights and international law aren't big things in your church though.
For me, if a nurse had a crucifix, that would put me off talking to her about say: abortion, which is available on the NHS. I support equal treatment of all people of all faiths, or athiests. Everyone is welcome to worship privately.

The Archbishop is appointed by the government,so look to them for their policy.Of course he should spend his time on supporting Christians, and insist that church bells should be rung every Sunday no matter what the moslems say.

I was Church of England, and yes a Christian!, but it seems as if our clergy care more for others than their own!.Their lack of zest!, compared to other religeous leaders, is like they are afraid to speak out about the ills of this country. They seem to *****-foot about the things that matter to us in this land...

It's a revolutionary idea that the head of the church of england should concern himself with......the church of england, I bet it's never even occurred to him

The comparison between M&S customers is an unfortunate one, M&S products are almost all made in China, so their customers help to fund the most barbaric terrorist organisation in the World. Hardly the kind of qualification for an upstanding churchgoer!

The Church of England should i agree, but they are far to Liberal for that,
That is what is wrong with our country, a liberal church, that puts every other faith above it's own. the church of England has a lot to answer for, after all we are a Christian Country first & formost.

It;s not the first time the good doctor has been struck with foot in mouth disease. Frankly, I think he is an idiot, as out of touch with the people and his faith, as the Politicians are out of touch with reality.
