Can anyone help me recover lost/damaged photos from a memory stick?

I have a Sony DSC-W50 digital camera with a relatively new Sony 4GB memory stick 'pro duo'. I was on holiday last week and had around 300 (perfectly viewable) photos saved when the camera decided it would stop reading the memory card and not let me view all the photos I had taken or take any more snaps. The screen is blue and there is an error code C-13-01. I have been told the photos are still there but I need, somehow, to get them off the damaged/corrupted memory stick.

Really worried I am not going to be able to retrieve all of these very valuable pictures!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

First of all don't do anything with the card until you get a good data recovery program. It sounds like your memory card is corrupt and the only chance you will have to recover your pictures is to use a data recovery program like EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard ($69.95) or Ontrack DataRecovery ($199.00). There are other programs available but I am familiar with the two I mentioned. I have used Ontrack EasyRecovery Pro ($499.00) over a dozen times on hard drives and SD cards with 100% success in recovering my files, pictures, and videos. If you search around the internet you can find most data recovery programs - if you have problems locating data recovery program, contact me and I will point you in the right direction.

Check out link below for a free data recovery program that was recommended by another user. I have not tried it but it looks like a decent program that should do what you want.

Am I right in thinking that you bought the Memory Stick online? I've seen this fault before and it's usually because the stick is not a genuine Sony and is a bona fide fake.

You might have a chance of recovering them if you're lucky. On the back of the Memory Stick packaging, there is usually a link to Sony's own image recovery software. It's free and seems to work well.

Try that. If that doesn't do it, I don't know what will!
