Does getting a crown hurt?
I have to have 2 crowns, one done on number 13. and one on my lower right molars.
If it does hurt on a scale of 1-10 what would you say? also I'm getting braces and an appliance.
Teeth:
I had 2 baby teeth crammed in between two adult teeth, one fell out probably a year ago and the other one, fell out July 4th this year. those two baby teeth caused a tooth that would've taken number 15's place instead because of the baby tooth being where it was it grew in the roof of my mouth (not to far back) when I lost that baby tooth, the tooth beside it took the other's place's I finally got it out. and I got a bad over-bite. which causes more likely reasons to have gum disease gingivitis.
I don't have alot of money, I'm not rich. so I couldn't afford dental work like normally but now it's getting taken care of, and I am getting braces.
I had 14 cavities and I need 2 crowns. (before i got my fillings done and taken care of)
the dentist said that if I put the braces on my teeth that were so badly decayed when they would be pulled by the braces, they'd snap them in pieces so we had to delay the braces but I start them this month :)
What appliance do I need? and what crown do I need?

Sounds like what I went through except for the braces part. I had 13 fillings and 3 crowns when I was 21 all because my parents never took me to the dentist. I also had a wisdom tooth pulled. I had room for the other three due to losing a few in select spots. Basically, after the fillings, I had to have and apicoectomy done on a previous/partial root canal. What happened is i didn't get the full root canal years before and years later I all of a sudden started swelling on one side of my face. I didn't feel a toothache because there was no nerve What the dentist did was sent me to a specialist that literally sliced through my gum (didn't feel a thing) and sawed out the root, drained all the fluid out, sewed it back up and sent be back to get the crown. I had a problem after the apicoectimy with almost passing out, but that was only because I stood up too fast when leaving and plus I have another medical issue with blood pressure. The crowns are ok, its the damned root canals that suck. They don't hurt because they numb it up pretty well, its just all that drilling and sawing that gave me anxiety. The reason I had a partial root canal was one, money, and two, I walked out of the first dentist because he was not sensitive to my anxiety problems. The dentist that did my fillings and crowns was great. He gave me laughing gas (which I totally recommend calling around to find someone that uses it) and if I still had problems, he offered to give me a teaspoon full of something for anxiety, which I ended up not needing. Everything turned out fine, its just after wards, it is pretty sore. They should give you Vicodin for it though and it should knock it out. After the apicoectimy though, they gave me Demerol. My husband says that the braces suck at first because your teeth will be extremely sore and its hard to eat at first for like a week. Stock up on soups and yogurt and you'll be fine. Its an ordeal to have this much stuff done over such a short period of time, (three weeks for me) but dental health is a must. I didn't realize it, but after I got that swelling taken care of, I must have been getting blood poisoning from it because I was having major depression issues and aching all over my body. I was constantly feeling dizzy and nauseous so just know, it will all be over. The pain killers make it easier too just don't over take them, cause withdrawals suck more than anything and you can get them regardless of whether you are an addict or not. If you have a choice between Vicoden and Percocet... get the Percocet. It works better and you'll have less chance of side effects when you stop taking them. I did have a problem with my last crown now that I think about it. I had a horrible tooth ache under it and they didn't believe me because they said there was no nerve there. My mother in law said she had a crown bother her like that off and on for over a year until what was left of that nerve died. Mine was pretty bad for about a week but went away when I took a pain killer or ibuprofen. It bothered me for months but only about once a week. That really rarely happens though. Its really not that bad, but it is a lot to handle when anxiety is involved. I can honestly say I don't have anxiety about it at all anymore. Tackled that issue for sure. Hope this helped.
