"New UN resolution aims at nuclear-free world" Realistic or another liberal, rainbow colored, unicorn?

Sort of like... When nuclear weapons are outlawed only terrorist will have nuclear weapons.

Update:

Delina: Poor comparison. If there was a way to irradicate evil intentions I'm all for it..... but irradicating a tool to kill is imposible because evil will still find a way to make the tool whithout you knowing. Somewhere in the world someone will have nuclear weapons.

Very Realistic if they didn't have to deal with bully neocons war lovers here in the US.

It is important to have goals, ans nations should have them too. The objective of a nuclear-free world is a very desirable goal.

If it remains an objective to be encouraged and realized through negotiations and efforts at understanding underlying problems the world will move in the direction of a peaceful world.

If however the future of this resolution proves to be a legal pretext to harangue nations that resist going along with this, we may find this resolution will be the seed from which springs a world conflict of Biblical proportions. (Think Arrnageddon) We however are just at the start of this new resolution whose aim is a nuclear-free world.

How we proceed from here may well determine whether we have World War III or a peaceful world we can all live in together!!!!

I'm not real fond of the idea of Iran having nukes, but it is inevitable that all the nations of the world will wind up having them. They are getting easier and easier to make and the knowledge is becoming increasingly widespread. The only thing that gives me hope is that we proved that Mutual Assured Destruction could keep a lid on things. Maybe having nukes will force them to grow up, and them having them will force us to backoff. Doubt if it'll work in the long run, so I suggest we all pull for more research in the various problems of energy and opening space to all mankind so we can spread out some and become a harder target to hit. The only way I know of to survive a nuclear weapon is to not be there when it goes off.

The League of Nations outlawed war. Although started by US President Wilson, the US never joined.

It's a worthy goal don't you think. Are you against vaccines to eradicate disease? Back when they were first invented someone may have thought it could never work but it did....
