Put down my 14-1/2 yr. old dog ( SAD )?

Monday i just put my dog to sleep. She was 14-1/2 yrs old. She couldn't walk and was falling down , she was deaf, and was going blind, she was my best friend since she was 4 weeks old. I guess i don't really have a question I just have to vent as i cry everyday when i walk in the door from work and she's not here.

Has anyone felt this attached to a dog or cat? I can't stop crying for her.

NO! I don't want another one. Too hard as i have had several with me through the yrs. and it doesn't get easier.

Thanks

I know what you are going Through I just posted here last week

I had a little half weenie and half Chihuahua and he was hit by a car and killed last friday He was my Little buddy and I have not stopped thinking about him since it happened losing a pet is the toughest part of having a pet I dread coming Home now because he was always there at the door when I walked in the house I do think i will get another dog someday But you did the right thing by Ending her Suffering

14 and 1/2 is a Good life span for a Dog It is Normal to grieve like this

I have felt less grief from family members that have died than I am feeling right now I Had to clear all of his stuff out of the house it was too painful to see his toys laying around just try to remember that she is in a good place now ... At first when i would think of him I would get really sad now I Smile when i think of more than I cry

he was my Bud and i will never forget him hang in there and when you heal you may want another one someday

I'm so very sorry. I know what you're going through as well. I put my beloved 13 year old Mandy down last August. We rescued her when she was 6, so we had her just 7 years. I know it doesn't help now, but you were able to enjoy your dog for 14 years. That's a long time, which makes the hurt even greater. I cried for months, literally. I still cry when I think about her, but I smile a lot more now too. I know she had the best life with us, and that without us, she probably wouldn't have lasted very long (she had a lot of health problems).

So be happy for the wonderful life you gave her, and all the love she gave you. Cry for as long as you want. It's completely normal. The pain will lessen in time, although she will always be in your heart. (((((Hugs))))) to you.

I put my dog down 2.5 years ago and still miss him dearly. I just played video of him at work for a colleague today. I took three days off work becasue I could not stop crying After "Walker" died, a friend sent me this, I hope it will comfort you. Also, when the time is right for another dog, he or she will find you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

im so so sorry, im in the same boat as you, i love my dogs to death, heres what my mom did when i was little and we had to put penny and mandy down

i was 5, mom took me on a shopping spree at toys r us, i picked a stuffed dog, i took it absolutely everywheres

im 14 i completely understand that you are a tad old for that haha.

another thing i saw on the news the other day, i live in ny and there is a woman somewheres who makes stuffed pets and puts some of the ashes of your beloved pet in it. apparently this works very well. i saw it on capital news 9. im sure if you check there website you might find a link to there. just in case that might help

all i can say is im so sorry, but its for the best. im so so sorry. when i got a new dog i actually felt better. have you considered getting a different pet, perhaps a cat or hamster or something and name it after your deceased pupppy? just a thought. wishing you well, enjoy your friday and weekend

I know what your going through. I had to put down our 13 year old boxer. No it's not easy, but with time it gets better just remember the good times. And it does help to get another dog, but only when your ready. It took me two years to get another dog. It's very hard to deal with the loss but it is also a joy to have them around for as long as possible. And during that time to just have fun.
