The most unpredictable NRL season, ever?
I'm sure at some stage this season or before the season we made assumptions, or didn't guess some things would happen. Be completely honest with your answers, not surprised if people will end up with 0 pts or less.
+1 pt if you thought the Eels would make the semis back in round 16
+1 pt if you had the Bulldogs picked as top 4 finishers at the beginning of the year
+1 pt if you tipped Dragons to bow out in the 2nd week of the finals, from the start of the finals
+1 pt if you tipped Manly to go out week 1
+1 pt if you tipped the Cowboys wouldn't make the eight at the start of the season
-1 pt if you thought the Tigers would make the eight
-1 pt if you said the Broncos are gone at some stage this season
-1 pt if you tipped a Dragons v Bulldogs GF
-1 pt if didn't think the Titans would get a top four spot at the beginning of the season.

I agree with you that the current set up is no good but i don't think having State of origin played after the regular season is workable for the following reasons. 1. As mentioned by others here it's the time that players get surgery for injuries they have been carrying. 2. It would clash with the likes of the world cup tournaments and tri nations now 4 nations tournaments that are played at the end of the regular season. 3. What happens if you want to replace players due to injury or performance reasons for games 2 and 3, the replacement players you would be looking at would by that stage have being in holiday mode for at leat 2 - 3 weeks with no training or match practice under their belt. 4. And, of course if a player wasn't involve in the semis it may be several weeks between their last NRL match and a State of Origin match if they were selected for it. I think the only solution is to extend the season and have the games played on stand alone weekends, preferrably Sunday afternoon, and all the clubs have a bye that weekend. The current system isn't fair on anyone, ie. (1) clubs have to play the following weekends when their star players are tired, jaded or injured from an intense game that may have been played only 2 days earlier. (2) The fans suffer from seeing their clubs penalised for having their best players playing origin and also for most fans who have to work the next day, going to watch the game means a late night before work the next day. and most importantly (3) the players don't have a chance to celebrate or savour a game win or series win because immediately after the game they have to start thinking about travelling to and preparing for a club game which may be less than 48 hours away.

In the strictest sense, I got -1. However, at the beginning of the season, I did predict the Titans to come 5th, so that is what I lost it upon.
As much as I wanted the Broncos too be gone (all of those years in the top 8 were getting ridiculous), I knew that it would be too good to be true, and they would probably get back up later on.

1 point for Dragons to go
1 point for Manly to go
1 point for Cowboys not making the 8
-1 point for thinking Broncos were once gone
- 1 point for thinking the Titans wouldnt make the 4
So I got 1 point lol
Nice Q
