Are there any sites where I can check my credit report absolutely free?

I'm tired of sites that promise free then lock you into a membership. I've tried cancelling before the free trial was up. But these sites take sooo long to get around to your request that they end up charging you a month or two before you get cancelled. Is there anywhere to get a credit report without a hitch?

The site you're looking for, which is endorsed by the US Government, is

    http://www.annualcreditreport.com/

It is run by the three credit bureaus, and will allow you to obtain free copies of your three credit reports every twelve months.

There will be offers to sell you "extras", such as credit monitoring services, but just click past those.

You'll know you are at the correct website when you see the picture of a woman in a green turtleneck.

If you want it online, then do what DON W said. If you want it by mail, call Trans Union toll free @ 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports. If there is something on the reports you're not aware of, dispute it immediately.
