Every once in a while my laptop freezes!?

First of all, I have done registry scanners and clean-up and defrag. So here is the situation: I'll be on IE for example, ill have been on the same page for a while, then I click on something, like a link. IE is non responsive, then it will say Not responding in the window , then, when I try to click anything else, my laptop completely freezes. When IE freezes, everything else works at first, i can minimize, althouth not close the window, the toolbar icons still highlight, my mouse moves etc. When I click anything is when the laptop scews up. The odd thing is though that when everything is non-responisive, the mouse always still works, and music will still play in itunes. Everything else is shot, even the clock gets stuck. I am not short on system resources, I am running Vista on a modest machine with 4GB of Ram and an adequate dual core processor... I could really use some help! I promise best answer!

The most likely cause is a bloated registry which has become the home for all kinds of useless bits and pieces of data. Whenever any change is made to the system settings or a program is installed or uninstalled, a new entry is generated in the registry. The operating system while running your computer has to pick its way through all this excess material. There is a multitude of useless bits and pieces to be removed.Parts of uninstalled programs, parts of incompletely installed programs, dead drivers and many other things. clean your registry and remove all the useless data fragments and no longer needed information to fix the freeze error! I should like to commend Registry Easy http://computer-e-book-money.com/ to you ! You can try ! Good luck!

I had the same problem.I installed a program, when all the freezing started. I had to do a clean restore on my Operating System. You probably installed a program not compatible with vista or downloaded a trojan your antivirus didn't detect.

Sounds like a virus or malware. Do a scan using AVG LavaSoft's Ad-aware (both free downloads).

Use Firefox when browning its more secure.
