Is the world really going to end in 2012?
I'm scared. The Nostradamus effect and the prophets of the past have said that the world was going to end soon. Is 2012 the year? Like an anti-Christ is going to be found (like Hitler and Napoleon) soon. I'm scareddddd, can anyone tell me if it's true, if the world really is going to end

No, it isn't. The claimed 2012 doomsday is a hoax. There were no ancient prophecies concerning 2012. Nostradamus never mentioned it. No one predicted it before the hoaxers started claiming it. This was after their 2003 doomsday failed to occur on schedule and they needed to keep selling their books and assorted doomsday garbage.
None of it is said or supported by scientists.
Everything the scam artists are saying about 2012 is untrue. Go take a look at 2012hoax.org. You will see that all the claims are false.
The Mayan calendar doesn't end, it just recycles. The Maya didn't predict anything for 2012. They didn’t make prophecies and the end of one cycle and start of another was an event to celebrate.
The people talking about all the signs of the end times are happening now don’t realize that they have been happening throughout history.
The History Channel doomsday schlockumentary is all lies, half truths, and wild speculation.
All the claimed astronomical events are either impossible or have no effect on us.
The Solar maximum is now expected to occur in May 2013 and won't hurt us. It could interfere with electronics and communications.
We aren't going to have any alignments aside from the approximate alignment that occurs every year at the December solstice.
Geomagnetic reversal (polar reversal) takes hundreds to thousands of years to occur. We wouldn’t even feel it happening.
Swine flu has a mortality rate of less than 10%, as compared to 70% for the avian flu that was going around a couple of years ago. We had a round of swine flu in the late sixties and guess what? The world didn’t end.
Nibiru doesn't exist. It came from Z. Sitchen's misinterpretation of ancient Sumerian references to the planet Jupiter. Even Sitchen didn't claim it would come back in 2012 (he said 2085). Nancy Lieder, who hears aliens in her head and originally said her "Planet X" would be here in 2003) took over Sitchen's imaginary planet and changed her doomsday date to 2012 when her original prediction failed.
The Institute for Human Continuity isn’t a real organization. It is a website advertising the movie 2012. It is run by Sony Pictures and if you look around on the site, you will find that the “Press Releases” are all about characters in the movie. It is all fictional.
That covers most of the absurd claims. The world will still be here after 2012, along with most of us.

No 2012 will be a normal year just like 2009. Nostradamus wrote complete nonsense. It's just the History channel getting RATINGS from people who were text messaging during all of their school classes.
Read what the scientists at NASA think about this hoax:

and then listen to the famous astronomer Neil Tyson as he makes fun of the 2012 hoax!

EDIT: for all who post that the Mayans were the smartest astronomers ever:
The Mayans believed that the Earth was flat and had 4 corners, and that the sky was held up by 5 large trees! They also believed the Earth rested on the back of a gigantic crocodile, and worshiped the sun god.
GOOD Grief!

Don't be scuuuured . It is a time for new beginning. The 52 year cycle will end dec. 21 2012 . So sais the Mayan people at Mayan.com .

No.
The reason about all this, is mostly just a big lie, yet there is a calculation that pluto and Neptunes will colide in that year. I doubt its actually going to happen. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TheKuiperBelt_Or...
And just to add: The sun wont 'burn up and everything will freeze', the Sun will burn up after growing ~10x in size (when it starts using Fe for cold fusion (in billions of years indeed)). and basicly swallow up most planets. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun#Life_cycle)
Also, in a few million years, the moon will run out of orbit, and go rogue. The Moon pulls up a big part of our atmosphere, so it will get about as hot as venus.
Round up though: Nothing will happen in 2012, just the normal 'person got killed' headlines.

Everyone from physicists to evangelists to prophets have been predicting “the big one” since the San Francisco was devastated in 1906.
The sloping park, great calamity,
Through “the Lands of the West and Lombardy
The fire in the ship, plague and captivity;
Mercury in Sagitarius, Saturn fading.
(Century 10, Quatrain 79)
Lombardy is in Italy and the Lands of the West possibly refers to the New World. This quatrain seems to suggest that the earthquakes will occur in these places. According to astrologers the next time that Mercury will be in Sagittarius and Saturn in a “fading” position will be on November 25, 2015; then on November 23, 2016; and again o

Definitely not!
The world will most likely end with the world blowing up from becoming too hot. OR, the sun will burn out and everything will freeze.
To say 2012 would be the year for this is INSANE, because A.) it's not going to happen for billions of years! and B.) There would be many events leading up to it. For example, when the sun burns out, it will gradually be fading for YEARS AND YEARS.
There is nothing to worry about! The world will not end in 2012.

Nostradamus didn't make a 2012 doomsday prediction. There's no scientific evidence saying that the world will end in 2012.

No one knows when the world will end, therefore you should live your life to the fullest and try to fulfill as many of your dreams as you can.If the world is going to end in 2012, it would not matter what you do anyway, so what's point in wasting your time being scared.

i doubt it. Especially since the prophecies translate to the end of linear time, not the end of the world.

I doubt it very seriously they did this same scare in 2000 remember!
