What do you think of the Swans?
I finally got around to expanding my swans's collection to "Children of God." I also have "Cop."
I think they are quite possibly (at least on cop) the least commercial band I've ever heard. Nothing about it is palatable or sellable at all.

I love the swans, I've their albums "White Light from the Mouth of Infinity" and "The Burning World".
I love the album children of God, it's awesome!!
The best thing I like about them is the really heavy atmosphere there is in each song, most of the songs are really "dark" and the lyrics are just beautiful. I mean they do speak about depression and all the stuff that's related to us in our daily life so it makes the band pretty realistic as well.
Another album of theirs I want to get is "Holy money".

<<< Finally, my time to shine!
I love them. They're a band who don't get anywhere near the level of respect they deserve. They have tons of great material. I've been listening to "Soundtracks For The Blind" a lot in the last week and can't stop putting it on. I've got that and "White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity", "Children Of God", "The Burning World", "Filth" and "The Great Annihilator". There are plenty more albums I want to get by them though.
Their earlier work is pretty unmarketable! It's not really radio-friendly!

yes! love them! 'Children of God's up there as one of my favourite albums ever... 'Cop/Young God' is ruff... i wish i'd seen them live performing those early tunes... the gigs must have been like an endurance test lol! (i hear they were LOUD lol!)...
i saw Jarboe live a few years back and she was amazing... i recommend her albums, especially '13 Masks' and 'Anhedoniac'... and i'm yet to hear any of Michael Gira's Angel of Light and solo stuff unfortunately... need to get on the case...
