SATA Hard Drive 127Gb Space Limit - Need Help?
i bought new hard drive (300Gb) and it has SATA connections unlike old versions of hard drives
but when i try to install it it tells me that only 127Gb will be available
i know that for older hard drives installing Win XP Service Pack 2 or higher fixes this issue BUT it does not work for SATA hard Drives (i tried)
How do i fix this?
P.S. My fiend tolled me that after installation i should format hard drive with some special format an it will fix it self.
Is that true? will it work? What format???

If the motherboard is old you need to update your Bios to allow 48 bit LBA support for your hard drive.
If worse comes to worse you could partition it to 3 partitions, each less that the 127GB limit.
SATA was introduced in 2002
Service Pack 2 (SP2) was released on August 6, 2004
How are you hooking the hard drive to your computer? Does your motherboard have both SATA connectors and the older style ATA aka EIDE style connectors?

You have to update the BIOS for the motherboard chipset, if one is available, to enable LBA (Large Block Addressing). The chipset has to be able to use LBA, older ones didn't without a BIOS update.
You also have to format the drive in NTFS, not FAT 32.
