What are some great ways I can transform my living room into a "butterfly garden" for my daughter's birthday?

I'm going to make tissue paper ball decorations to hang from the ceiling, along with little white butterflies - but we live in a tiny apartment, so our living room is like our living/dining/office space, and I really want to make it magical. What do you think about setting up an area to take pictures - like use construction paper and things to make like a 'garden' back drop? I don't know what else I could do. Thank you for your help in advance!!!

How fun! You can use twinkle lights...make large tissue paper flowers. You can use green crepe paper to make the backdrop...make some crepe paper flowers & attach to it...it will make it more 3-D. Martha Stewart's website has directions on making those. You could also make it look like a forest. A paper tree on the wall & ceiling...have leaves hanging from the "branches" on ceiling...and the twinkle lights. Paper mushrooms & grass on the bottom of the wall. All easily made with construction paper...or a roll of craft paper and some craft paint.

You can easily make flower pens...take plain pens, green florist tape and fake flowers...either craft store or wal-mart have all of it. Then, use the tape to wrap around the pen & stem of flower. You can put these in a vase, tin pail, etc...put some beads, beans, etc. to hold them in place. This becomes a centerpiece, but can also be a party favor. Another place to get some ideas (you can either purchase or just get ideas) is etsy.com.

I bet http://www.kraftfoods.com/ has some great garden cakes too. I made one for my daughter using a fairy doll & a cake made in a ovenware bowl. After the cake is cool, wrap the doll in saran wrap, insert her legs into the cake to make it into her gown. Then, just decorate with icing & candy.

My kids never have traditional parties...we had an Alice in Wonderland party not too long ago. Right now, we are having A Little House on the Prairie party. Just get down to her level & see how it would look to her. Something so simple to us, can look so magical to kids.

Hit the dollar stores and see what they have. Sometimes you can find the greatest cheap stuff. It's sure easier to do dinosaurs tho. I just spent days looking for sponge bob decorations and we have party stores that don't have sponge bob. I finally found a candle for the top of the cake and a blow up sponge bob and the kid just loved it. It was so worth the work. But make some flowers for them to land on, and there are stickers to make small butterflies.

Found this and a bunch more if you google paper butterflies. . .

I think you could maybe add some jungle sounds/music to make it magical and add some green streamers to the ceiling to make it jungle-ish.

you should buy some real butterfly's, get some caterpillars online so she can feed them and watch them go into a cocoon and release them, they'res sets that come with everything they need :] im sure that would be awesome for her.
