Work is hard to find here just now & besides, you would be stealing a job from an Aussie. Shame on you.

There are huge fines for employers who hire illegal workers and it's not nearly as common as Mariko says. Australians are not at all accepting of illegals and if we suspect one, we will report him on the immigration 'dob in' line. If you're caught, you will be deported (Australia isn't soft on illegals like the USA is) and not only will you not be able to return to Australia for many years, it will also stop you from travelling to other countries.

You haven't said where you're from, but you may be eligible for a working holiday visa. That would be a much better idea and you can enjoy your stay without needing to watch what you say and without looking over your shoulder all the time.

Not a good idea. If they catch you, you'll get deported & excluded from visiting Australia for several years. It will also show up when you try to get entry visas for other countries. Australia & New Zealand share all this type of info for example.

No. Most of the employment in Australia requires you to have references etc. Also requires you to have a bank account and also to have a tax file number. You can apply for a 'cash in hand' job - no questions asked - but those jobs are very rare. And any employer caught employing illegal workers would face very heavy fines.

Yes, especially if you go out to the countryside. It is very common here because of the high cost of hiring and retaining people and many small business simply cannot afford help otherwise.
