Try this:
In versions of Word prior to Word 2007:
1. Click the File->Save As menu item.
2. Down in the Save as Type list box, select Rich Text Format.
3. Save the file.
In Word 2007:
1. Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.
2. Click Save As-> Other formats.
3. Continue as in Step 2, above.
Hope that helps.

Open our resume in Microsoft Word and do File/Save As... in the file type option, choose Microsoft Works (.wps). What version of Microsoft Works do you have? Works 7.0 can open Word 6.0/95 and Word 97/2002 files directly.

Go to the top left where it says File and left click... go to Save As and then when the dialog box pops up name the file and then right below it you will be able to select the file type. You will be able to save it as a RTF file.
Be warned that you could change the formatting when doing this.

Run MS Word.
Open your RTF document in MS Word.
Click on the "File" menu.
Choose "Save As..." and make sure that "Word Document" is selected in the "Save as type" box.
Save As... Word Document
Enter the file name you wish or leave it as it is. This will keep the
same name as your RTF document, but convert it to Word-format.
Click "Save".
