I'm curious why some Protestants deny they are.

As a mental health professional with 20+ years experience, now retired, and as a Roman Catholic for almost 60 years now, I can assuredly tell you that protestants are in denial about who and what they are. God Bless you.

No, it's not. Nor is Catholic a bad word. Protestants are derived from the Catholics, this was the Protestant Reformation, protest of the Church. Martin Luther was the beginning of the Protestant Reformation and it branced out from there. Sola scriptura is the basis for the reformation. Sola scriptura is the doctrine that the Bible is the only infallible or inerrant authority for Christian faith, and that it contains all knowledge necessary for salvation and holiness. Consequently, Sola Scriptura demands that no doctrine is to be admitted or confessed that is not found directly or logically within Scripture.
However the Catholics or the Roman Catholic Church against which the Reformers directed these arguments did not see Scripture and the Sacred Tradition of the faith as different sources of authority, but that Scripture was handed down as part of tradition (see 2 The 2:15, 2 Tim 2:2). Accepted traditions were also perceived by the Roman Church as cohesive in nature. The proper interpretation of the Scriptures was seen as part of the faith of the Church, and seen indeed as the manner in which Biblical authority was upheld (see Acts 15:28-29). The meaning of Scripture was seen as proven from the faith universally held in the churches (see Phil 2:1, Acts 4:32), and the correctness of that universal faith was seen as proven from the Scriptures and apostolic tradition (see 2 The 2:15, 2 The 3:6, 1 Cor 11:2). The Biblical canon itself was thus viewed by Rome as part of the Church's tradition, as defined by its leadership and acknowledged by its laity.
So in essence it really depends on what you believe. Most have a hard time seeing the others point of view due to their individual bias opinions. There are however, arguments for both ways. I for one do not get that dogmatic and do just as the bible says for that is all that I have or need.

When i think of David/CJ Chris or what ever name he has attempted to disguise himself from, he reminds me of what a Fool and a Hypocrite is. As for your question if your a Protestant why deny it unless your ashamed of being a member of a group that Protested the Catholic Church and thought they new better.

No, though I think it's a word that's about done in many cases. After 500 years, Protestantism has developed into a lot of different traditions that stand on their own, and are not protesting anything.
Of course, it still does make sense to apply the term to traditions like Lutheranism, etc.

Jesus is at the center of my spiritual beliefs and all the labels are meaningless imo.
At first I thought he was bashing Protestants. He sure has a lot to say on the subject.

Saying you're a Protestant means acknowledging a connection to the Catholic church.
Can you imagine David/Chris/CJ EVER admitting he had any connection to the Catholics? He'd probably sooner admit he was connected to Satan.
Too bad though, because a Protestant is exactly what he is.

David is misguided and dysfunctional christian.
Peter will certainly have a handful' when david gets up to those pearly gates.
Why do atheist, and protestants get uptight with their names. because its a word that depicts his or hers religious orientation, or lack of it.
I'm catholic' ...that means you know were I'm coming from.
god-bless denis c.

David is the self elected Pope of his one-man cult. His entire theology is based on Chick Tracts. What he says can in no way be considered representative and is often absurd balderdash.
- MidgeLv 71 decade ago
no it's just that David and his ilk think Jesus didn't show up and do everything he did until he (David, Chris, CJ etc.) was born and it was all EXPRESSLY for him.

davids a selfish troll who despises all catholics so much for beliveing in jesus and trying to live like him .|
