Anyone with experience dealing with Pyloric Stenosis?

My son (6 weeks) was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis today and he'll be getting surgery to repair the problem either tomorrow morning or the next day. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience dealing with this and how things went for you.

I know you are all thinking "Why are you on the computer?" but I'm trying to keep busy until my friend gets here to take me to meet up with my husband and son who are at the hospital already. I'll be leaving in an hour or so. I just need some positive experience stories right now so I can stop freaking out.

My son was 2 months when he had surgery for this. He is now a very happy and active 3 year old. Don't worry everything will be okay and your son will feel so much better after he has the surgery. It was hard seeing my son wheeled back into the operating room but before you know it it was all over and the surgery went great. The only way you would ever know my son had this is the scar above his belly button. Good luck and i hope everything goes great for your family.

hello, all i will say is 'you undesirable element'... specific, my first son had pyloric stenosis and grew to become into operated on at 4 weeks previous. They by twist of destiny nicked his abdomen whilst they operated (because of the fact he grew to become into so small) and so he could no longer feed for 3 days - which grew to become into horrendous. different than that, he did look somewhat colicky for months in a while and likewise has continuously had an particularly mushy abdomen (he's now 8 and could nonetheless ***** his tummy hurts in many circumstances). He additionally reduced in size Botulism virus whilst he grew to become into interior the wellness facility and have been given very ill with that. In saying all this, he's a gorgeous and wholesome 8 year previous now. although i do think of an operation at this form of youthful age does compromise their immune gadget fairly. in case you want from now on specific data - please dont hesitate to invite, i be conscious of what i trial a ill new child is. I pray he will get well thoroughly quickly.

My nephew had this. When he was 5 weeks old, he wasn't wetting enough diapers so he ended up being diagnosed with this after some tests. He had a bag of fluid to rehydrate him in the hospital, then they operated on it. The incision was faily tiny as well, and healed fast. He threw up for a couple days after the surgery I remember, but within maybe 5 days or so he was able to feed like normal. Hope this helps, he's a happy healthy 14 month old now.

Was your son vomiting a lot? I dont have experience with this but What I do know, is that your son will be ALOT better after surgery. It's a routine surgery for drs. It's very common and its like their just operating on something simple.

It will go fine, and your son will begin gaining weight in no time!
