Help with computer - starts up slow?

Recently my vista laptop takes about 10 minutes to load up, like actually start, not for the applications to load. When I turn it on, it goes to a black screen for about 10 minutes then finally goes to my desktop. I've done nothing recently that could have done this.

few points- my norton antivirus expired and kept telling me to subscribe and pay money to get it but i uninstalled it and installed AVG free...

and also these pop ups came up like, an hour ago, about 10 of them saying 'the application ___ is trying to access the internet from remote IP address ________...I just closed them all...any help

there might be virus on your pc just scan your pc with a good antivirus and also delete the temporary files and junk files....

by disk cleaning facility.....of windows..or by installing a good pc cleaner"www.piriform.com" for c cleaner....

and also disable the unwanted programs to run at start up....for this do as following:-

start>>run>>msconfig>>startup>>there just uncheck all the programs which are not important to run at start up....this will make your pc fast.....

The Windows Registry is the master control center for your operating system and applications it runs. Corruption or overload registry issues can cause all sorts of pc performance problems, including poor application startup times, slow Windows start-up, extremely slow shut down, inability to resume from computer sleep and more.Cleaning, compacting, and optimizing your Windows registry can go a long way to dramatically speeding up your computer’s performance, start-up and shutdown speed.

You can try Ashampoo Win Optimizer.

Also use Windows defender to check your startup applications.

If this doesn't do, Uniblue Registry Booster 2009 might help.
