Well, I'm a total fantasy nut, and my favorite books are:
His Dark Materials trilogy (Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, Amber Spyglass) The Bartimaeus Triology, the Sabriel Trilogy, The Goose Girl, Enna Burning, River Secrets, Inkheart, Dreamdark, and The King in the Window.
For other genres, like classics, I like The Prince and the Pauper, the Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Little Women, Wuthering Heights, and those kinda books.
For science-y books, I like Cosmos, The Elegant Universe, and the Encyclopedia of Space.
Right now I'm reading The Ramayana, which is and ancient Indian epic (kinda cool!) And the Odyssey. These are for school. Also, just hit the bookstore or library, and trust me, you'll find something!

Hmm... if you're into fantasy and stuff, the Shannara series are good, and into some weird mystery type-things, most of Harlan Coben's books are good too.
