Blink-182 vs. Jane's Addiction?
(IF YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF JANE'S ADDICTION, DON'T ANSWER THIS QUESTION. i'm not here to get opinions on blink fanboys and fangirls.)
my friend and i have been debating over which band is better. my friend is a huge blink fan, and anytime i mention jane's addiction in any way, shape, or form, he has to go on a huge rant about how they suck and blink-182 are way better. the only reason he says this (and he has admitted to this several times) is because he's only heard one song by jane's addiction (mountain song). when he's done whining, i usually start by saying that he shouldn't judge JA by only one song. to defend myself, i've heard several songs by blink-182, and all of them annoy me. the vocals are incredibly whiny and irritating, travis barker is a very basic drummer, and the guitar/bass parts are usually generic and as far as i know, there are little to no guitar solos in any of their songs. in my opinion, when you compare blink to JA in terms of the talent of each member, jane's addiction wins by a longshot.
now that i'm done ranting (lol), i'd like to hear your opinions. who do you think is better, who do you favor, etc. please try to add as much detail as possible to back up your claim because i'm really interested in what other people have to say about this.
also, sorry for the long, looooong rant; i have a lot to say xD
not to be a *****, but travis barker is far from being the "best drummer" out there. neil peart, mike portnoy, josh freese, and even stephen perkins (from JA) possess more skill, talent, and ability than travis barker could even dream of having.
all the small things, dammit, and especially adam's song annoy the hell out of me. there is one song i do like by them, and it's i miss you :P
i'm not dissing him, i'm simply saying that travis barker is NOT the best drummer in the world. and stephen perkins is highly underrated.

Blink 182 is just that awesome band that gets the teens.
Their songs may not be poetry, but they're definitely good.
Travis Barker is actually an amazing drummer. I saw them live last month and I am again on Sunday, and his solo was by far one of the best performances of the night.
And there are a few songs that have some pretty good guitar solos.
Bands shouldn't necessarily be rated by how 'good' they are as a band, but more on how much of an effect they have on listeners/fans.
I know both and personally I believe that Bink 182 pwns Jane's Addiction.
But I respect your opinion.

I'd have to so Blink-182. Travis Barker is NOT a basic drummer(probably the best one out there) i saw him in concert, and it was amazing
but i also thinks Jane's Addiction is very good, but the voice is somewhat whiney. (and i have heard a lot of their songs)
Back to Blink, they have very good songs, and i grew up listening to them almost everyday of my life.
i just think Blink is more modern than Jane's and more...
i shouldn't be saying this cuz i think a band should be more about how much of an affect it has onn the listener.
bbut i respect your opinion

blink is better in my opinion.
and the reason theyre guitar/base lines are only a couple of riffs is because they have true punk roots so they are keeping the simple notes of punk in their music even if they sort have shifted into a different genre.
and travis barker is an amazing drummer. what songs did you listen to that annoyed you?
Source(s): dont diss travis barker. if you ever get the chance to hear him live and he's just ya know proving then youll see that he has got som skills. and i saw a list of the 50 greatest drummers ever and travis barker was on it. that dude from JA wasnt. its just that it looked like you were describing him as almost talentless - ?Lv 51 decade ago
