i just bought oaten chaff, help?

the bags i buy last a year until i need to buy the next one. I bought oaten believing it couldn't be much different to what i had before. Until i opened the bag at home.

The chaff i have been feeding is probably lucerene because it was a lot greener. this chaff looks like straw and its palish yellow.

because it is a different chaff i have to add it slowly into my horses feed yes?

I know that i cannot take it back so this will do until next time, so tell me what you know about oaten and how you like to use it because...?

Yes itll be oaten or wheaten its fine to feed i feed 4 scoops of it to one scoop of lucerne as lucerne is rich and high in protein and can cause stomach upsets!!! add it slowly over a week or two depending on how sensitive your horse is its a great feed for adding bulk its just like chopped up wheaten or oaten hay you'll be fine you may even decide you like it better.

Yes just add some in, and then more each time until you completly stop using lucerne, or until you run out.

If your horses are ridden, its best to stick with the oaten chaff, cause you find that a horse is much hotter after work, then they are if you feed them oaten chaff.

Add it slowly over a period of about a week to 2 weeks. My horse prefers oaten to lucern but i'm not sure why.

I actually like a mixture of both so I buy the 50/50 mix. A lot of people will steer clear of the lucerne if their horses tend towards the "chubby" side.
