is auto antifreeze compatible with salt water?
I want to be able to keep water from freezing, to -45 degrees. I don't want to use straight anti-freeze, I don't want the smell. Can I use a high concentration of salt water(good to aprox -25) and then top it off with auto antifreeze

If you read the side of the antifreeze jug, it actually freezes at a lower temperature at 60% antifreeze and 40% water that pure antifreeze. That's what I use and I live where it is common to get -50 C or -58 F outside. I use synthetic 0W30 and don't have to plug in my block heater.
