Christmas fancy dress?
I'm entering a show at Christmas time and it's fancy dress! I want it to be original (so not "go as santa") - has anyone got any ideas?! It has to be something I can ride a dressage test in. My horse is relatively quiet but will not take too well to jingle bells on his reins! Any suggestions welcome! He's a 16hh chestnut IDx!
Matilda A - a turkey?! LOL!!!
How would I go about making a wise man costume - I like that one :D And the tree idea!

I did a dressage test with my horse, i was dressed as an elf and she was a reindeer (except I put bells on the reins and she hated it! lol).
You can get really creative with a Wise Men costume, use loads of golds and deep purple (will look amazing on a chestnut).
You could dress your horse in greens and a bit of tinsel and you could dress as a fairy on top of the tree.
You could also go as Santa Lucia (that's the most original thing i can think of)
I wont even suggest going as a Turkey ;).
Sorry these ideas arent brilliantt, I think christmas has had all theoriginalityy taken out of it tbh.
Good luck x
Edit/Reply:
haha! yeah!
For the wise men you could use maybe an old sheet and sew/stick lots of gold stuff on (like spray-painted card board)
You can also fill saddle use children's plastic jewelry like pearls and gold beads and put them round the reins and bridle (if it's ok with your horse). =O get some gold hoof paint and sequins and stuff like that!
Also for the tree, You could use an old green sheet and sew baubels and tinsel on, use green hoof paint (basically try your hardest to make your horse look like a big tree! lol. Maybe find some way of attaching real bits of tree on him. It's pretty easy to dress as a fairy so it's less for you to do.
If there's trotting and cantering you will probably need to fasten everything down to stop it flapping about.
Good luckkkkk! :) x
Oh and here's a pic of my horse as a reindeer (not very flasy but i was limited as shes the queen of spook!):

how about the little boy/girl santa forgot, you could look all sad with dirty clothes and face and so on, and the horse you could put red bandages on the legs /tail maybe a red summer sheet, add some tinsel to the brow band and tail good luck :)
