Did you have a favorite game as a child?
One you played over and over....that made people leave the room when they saw you carrying it in? Mine was Mattel's Lie Detector.

Bought by my parents at Christmas for me was, The United States of America game, because I always loved geography more specifically, maps. Never was that game played by more than one player, that player would be lonely me. Family and even friends would look at it when I asked them to play it with me and always claim to hear their mom calling them or the sun was in their eyes or they had surgery scheduled in 3 minutes or their goldfish had escaped and they had to hunt it down and every possible excuse did they utter and that is why I am what I am today...sitting in my dark closet for hours on end crying into my folding road maps and stabbing holes through every I that I find in my atlas, chanting the name Rand McNally over and over and over again, fondling a globe of the Earth always keeping one palm placed at Hanover Germany. I'm having a party and my special friends are coming and we're going to play with maps and things and everyone will be there, like Gastaldi, Ptolemy, Tobias Mayer, Arnoldus Montanus and even Louis will be there...you know Louis, Louis Hennepin you silly. Everything in my head is 1" equal to 1 furlong...h hu ha haa haaaa haaaaaaaaaa I'M SICK I TELL YA, SICK.

My sister and I played Picture Lotto, and Uncle Wiggily when we were growing up, which were quite easy, since I didn't have to read anything to play; later on, my sis, mom and dad and I would play Monopoly or Aggravation on Sunday nights. One game I really enjoyed that we didn't have at home was Life, during which I could get married, have a career, buy life insurance, and eventually sell my kids! I played that over at a friend's house.
But my favorite game of all was let's pretend. No game board, no pieces, and I could play by myself any time.
Source(s): I had Lie Detector at home as well, but the constant dinging of the lie detector drove my folks to distraction. - Anonymous1 decade ago
