Without proof that you had those songs legally than the feds will assume that you were downloading illegal copies. So take my advice as someone who has been caught using torrents (which is another form of P2P sharing) STOP even if you used to own them cause they wont care they will treat them the same as if you were doing it illegally. Don't worry too much about being caught right now your internet service provider probably didn't notice. But if you were to keep it up within time they will eventually find out about it and don't listen to what some people say like "just download free songs from here its safe" there is no such thing as downloading illegal copies of songs and it being safe because they can look at all recent downloads. Just buy the songs its better for everyone. If this scared you too much for your comfort then just delete the songs and move on, if not then I recommend not downloading any more. Also usually if you do get caught they will just give you a warning then they will make sure you delete all that you downloaded. But if you are caught again you will be fined for every song, possibly go to prison and your computer and internet privleges taken away. Take my advice in any way you want

i exploit limewire by way of shifting the archives to a various folder and going into the settings and specifying that I dont pick Limewire to all archives in the past downloaded whether they arent in the acquire folder. pass away some nonsense stuff in the sharing folder and you'd be ok so far as sharing .

Limewire was said to be illegal and pirating, but if that is true, than why do they give you the option of downloading for free or paying for it? You will not get fines, it is perfectly okay, I have been using it for years to download music, movies, books, pictures....never been fined.

Nope, you only get fined after you download 201 songs from limewire.

probably because everyone i know who has ever used limewire was either killed off by the government, is in jail, or is living on the streets because they used all their money to pay off their fines

    You MIGHT get sewed.

Me and my older sisters used to download stuff from there and one day the cable company sent us a letter threatening to sew us!

God, you people here saying nothing will happen. Really? Really?! Just watch.

Technically, if you already purchased the CD it's legal to have a digital copy on your PC. However, if you don't have a physical copy of the CD that the music is on, it's illegal.
