If my car breaks down in traffic...?

Is it "okay" to call the police?? I know this sounds silly.. but in some instances in can get dangerous for you and other motorists.. and please don't everyone say stuff like, "the police have better things to do than worry about your car" I understand that, and I understand I wouldn't be priority.. but I guess what I'm asking is if it would be considered a mis use of the police dept to do so?? Like, could I could fined or something? Please no lectures on how I need to know how to fix my own car and to push it and hazards lights, etc, etc.

Thanks ya'll :)

It's not a misuse of the PD to call them and advise them. Especially if your vehicle is sitting in the road, it could cause a crash. Whatever you do, if your vehicle breaks down in traffic, don't just leave it there! I can't believe how many people leave disabled vehicles in the road and just leave! When that happens the vehicle gets towed and the owner gets upset because their car is gone and they don't want to pay for the tow.
