I think I accidentally deleted the audio driver that starts up with the computer, how do I get it back?

I still have sound, but there is an annoying popping sound periodically, especially when the computer starts up and shuts down.

I think it was called IDL or IDK audio driver.

Any suggestions?

well, if you dont know what soundcard your computer has and your using an aftermarket one, you should be able to pop the case and look at the sticker or markings that are usually on your card. if you are using a built in sound card, you can either check My Computer for it, or if you have the motherboards manual, look in there to see if it specifies it under features or something. after that you should be able to download a driver off of that manufacturers website. say its RealTek, you could find their site, look for a drivers/dowloads tab or link, and try to find the file that rings a bell. I hope this helps.

  • If you still have the installer disk of your motherboard then use it to reinstall your audio driver otherwise Google the audio driver if you know its brand and model.

If you know your motherboard's model and brand, Google it to find the download link for the audio driver.

If you got a windows reinstallation disk with your computer or any other disk for your computer then the driver will probably be on there. Otherwise most computer manufacturers have drivers for every computer they make online. Do a search on their website for your computer model and it should list all the drivers for that specific computer.
