Bringing fruit back to the mainland?
I live in Hawaii and am going back home to California for a month and wanted to bring some fruit with me for my family. I know I can bring pineapples but I also wanted to take some rambutan and lychee and I'm not sure if those are ok. I already checked the agriculture website but I'm still not sure.
Thanks for all the feed back, but I managed to get a hold of the agriculture department. And as long as the rambutan and lychee are frozen solid I can bring them and they won't be taken away. As for the pineapple just long as it's soil and pest free it'll also be fine, so thank you for all the input.

You can't pick anything and tuck it in your suitcase - as stated before, it will be confiscated incredibly fast =)
However, there are companies that will ship fresh fruit to your home for you. Each time we go to Oahu we stop by the Dole Plantation and have a case of Pineapples shipped home, they arrive in about 5-7 days, fresh and wonderful! They might also ship other fruits, check their website
you can also pick up a mini case of 3 pinepples from one of the shops in the Honolulu Airport and take them on the plane with you, those are approved.
Aloha!

Agriculture in California will take them away from you faster than a New York minute.....dried fruits are okay, nothing more.
