Have you got a slow cooker? I have a few tips.?

I put potatoes in as I thought the starch would thicken my broth. My meat was cooked wonderfully, I then put the potatoes in the microwave, the potatoes became stiff and uneatable. Butternut squash doesn't do well in a slow cooker either. Just be aware that slow cookers are not their to reduce water.

I do find that slow cooked meat seems to be the only thing I have had success with. ( apart from rice puddings!) My favourite slow cooker meal is half shoulder of lamb, left to cook all day in some stock. Then take it out of the slow cooker while I prepare some vegetables. Put the lamb in the oven on high temperature to crisp up the outside, its delicious.Thicken the stock to make the gravy.

Yes, I have a slow cooker. I only use it for anything that needs long slow cooking.
