I'm doing french homework.
The activity is like, turning sentances into questions. The example was
1. Ta soeur a perdu ses manuels. (A qui)
Answer: A qui a-t-il envoye un lettre?

"A-t-il" and "A-t-elle" are the inverted forms of "Il a" (He has) and "Elle a" (She has). These inverted forms are used to turn a statement into a question. There is a "t" inserted in between the 2 words so as to aid pronunciation (since there is no consonant sound between the two words).
Therefore, "A qui a-t-il envoyé un lettre?" means:
"To whom did he send a letter?"

Elle a perdu - passé composé (Avoir in Present Tense + Past Participle of the main verb)
Avoir Present Tense
J'ai, tu as, il,ELLE A - nous avons, vous avez, ils,elles ont.
Verb Perdre - PERDU = past participle
Ta soeur (elle) A PERDU ses manuels.
Ta soeur a envoyé une lettre à sa mère. (Ta soeur = elle)
Question: À qui a-t-elle envoyé la lettre? - Interrogation
Answer: À sa mère.

Affirmative: Elle a
Interrogation: A-t-elle? (It is difficult to pronounce A-ELLE? A-IL?)
