Anyone own or ever owned a can am spyder? Thinking of buying one?
I saw one last year at a booth at the fair and I absolutely feel in love with it. So much I put my 1981 corvette up for sale to get one. Well I'm wanting to know if there is any draw backs to them. Whats your likes and dislikes about it.

Are you a motorcycle rider? I am.
I have ridden the Can-Am Spyder. It wasn't my thing, really, but here's the pros and cons as I see them;
Pros:
Cool looking! <grin>
Powerful, fast.
Much more stable than a single front, dual rear trike.
High tech - stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes.
Luggage available for touring.
Does cool burnouts! (hmm, hmm.. don't know who would have tried that?)
Cons:
NOT a motorcycle. Doesn't behave like one, steering is awkward (I found) and the feeling of getting thrown off to the side when it turns is disconcerting. (To me.) More like a Quad than a bike.
Stability control is not perfect, high speed or sudden manuevers can still cause the thing to flip. BIG warnings about this in the owner's manual.
No rain protection, no crash protection - like a motorcycle.
Very little storage without the add on luggage, but there is a little trunk up front.
Some owners think it can be ridden in the winter - see my note about the stability control, big warnings about NOT doing that in the manual.

stay away from the '60-'sixty 4. they are squirly and could spin out on ya in case you do not shop appropriate air stress in the tires. this is because of the fact, in assessment to the VW and Porsche, the engine hangs added out in the back of the rear axle, and the engine is heavier with 2 extra cylinders than the VW. The suspension and seems have been extensively greater in 'sixty 5. I owned a Corvan for a mutually as, until eventually the engine caught hearth from each and each of the oil leaks. those vehicles and the VW micro bus have been the 1st mini vehicles, even however Chrysler claims THEY have been the 1st.
