Apartment complex made a mistake?
I am moving into a apartment in a week, after telling me when i turned in my application that i would have to pay $330 when i signed the lease, they called and said last monday that they would send me an updated move in cost sheet with in fourty eight hours. I had to call last week mid-week and remind them to send it. I recevied it today at 1:40 in the afternoon a week after they said they'd sent it to me. In the email, it says that i will owe $630 at move in, i was shocked, they told me $330, i called and they said that the sheet i received before was wrong, but then i open the attachment on the email, and it too says that i owe $330...i call again and they say that i owe $630 that the move in cost sheet sent is wrong...they made the mistake, i think that i should pay the $330 and move in...what should i do?
it has nothing to do with real estate...or writing
I DIDN'T ALTER ANY NUMBERS!!!

Renting does have a lot to do with real estate...but that is a little beside the point.
I think what the other answer really means to say is be sure to get everything you believe to be true in writing and signed by someone in authority at the complex. If you ever get into a legal fight with the complex, your word will not be enough to prove your case...nor will a bunch of emails...signed documents matter...in rental agreements they are often the only things that matter.
My advice to you is to look over the paperwork (lease agreement) very carefully before you sign anything -- if it says $630, the cost is $630 and don't sign anything. If it says $330, sign it. If the lease says nothing about the move in amount, make them add it to the contract before you sign it.

As a landlord my self I find this really uncalled for. I would print out the one that showed 330 and take that in. The fact that they sent an e-mail saying one thing with a attachment showing something else is just stupid on their part.
However I'm not sure you will get the apartment or not for that price.

Despite the fact they are shady and screwed up--if you alter the numbers--they will find a reason to toss you..My best advice is to get any money back you put up and run from this deal...It stinks---from the door---you will never be comfortable moving in wondering whats going down next...

It's your choice. Either pay what they ask or don't move in. You haven't signed the lease yet...so neither party is liable to the other.

Don't. Sounds flaky.
Writing is controlling with real estate.
I would reconsider.
