Thank you for a thank you note?

I gave away this gift card that I didn't need to someone that could use it. They wrote me a thank you note. Do I respond? What is the proper etiquette? :) Thanks!

Not necessary to acknowledge or thank someone for a thank you note, though the next time you speak to that person you could tell them you are glad they enjoyed the card.

No need to respond. It was very nice of them to send you the thank you card. Same rules apply as to any thank you card, you read them and throw them out, no repsonse is necessary.

no response is necessary - but if you want to respond, you should do so in a way even less formal - text, email, just saying thanks the next time you see them - if you send a card back you are starting a correspondence that may have no end :)

You both responded, that is enough,You probably have a good friend, who would do the same for you.

No, this could go on forever. Nothing more needs to be done.

  • You don't have to respond. They already said "thank you". :)
