How can you get rid of Mold in Whirlpool Duet upright washer?

This is a fairly new machine. It is an upright front load washing machine by Whirlpool.

If you have an upright and have experienced a mold problem, please tell me about it. Is there information on what causes the mold? how to clean, what to do, etc.? It does not seem like a very good design and I wonder if it is just a business, with no care for the consumer. When laundry is washed every day, spun out, and it still has so much mold that it stinks to walk near, something is wrong with the machines design, do you agree?

There are no filters to clean, no compartments that can be opened and cleaned, and we have run bleach and hot water through this machine many times.

Please help.

Mold usually grows in warm and damp condition. It is not a bad idea to run a full cycle with vinegar water. This helps to get rid of the mold, musty smell and disinfect at the same time.

Make sure you leave the door widely open whenever you are done with your laundry to allow better air circulation and to help dry up the moisture trapped inside the washer.

    Hope this helps.

No, I don't agree. I think you need to contact Whirlpool directly and tell them about this problem. There may be a very simple solution that is being overlooked. Maybe a hose is kinked or the drain hose is plugging or the drain is so clogged with lint that the machine can't empty. Frankly, that would be the first place I'd look. It would be a much more likely place to produce an odor like that. If that's the culprit, a snaking is in order.

fill the machine fully with hot water and pour a one liter bottle of white vinegar and let it go thru the the normal washing method it removes the residue build up and may take the mould away

all front loaders get mold because you cant get all the water out of them. leave the door open so it can dry out after each load.
